Happy Arbor Day
April 24th is Arbor Day, which is of course not a cockney festival of seaside fishing ports, but a celebration of
trees! This Arbor Day marks the 4th year that 3W Studios has been planting trees as part of our Carbon Offset efforts. Our tree planting program has helped reduce our carbon footprint on each new project started since 2006. Aware of the debate about the value of tree planting in the big CO2 picture, we try to keep a balanced portfolio: our
green hosting facility is powered by renewable energy. But trees do tend to make better homes for animals than solar panels, so we plan to continue our program. We've planted trees in Florida and Tennessee, and our latest batch of 100 pine, fir and cedar saplings will take root in California. Check out
Arbor Day events near you, and go hug a tree.

Social Media Truths
There has been a wave of social media action recently amongst our clients. Facebook pages are the most common, with YouTube and Twitter close behind. Some of them are self-directed, some are part of a recommended strategy or campaign. Either way, they are certainly becoming de rigueur. So it was fascinating to
read an article on social marketing myths recently. The take-aways for me were things we already knew but don't see our clients appreciating, namely: it's not free, it takes work, and it's not a guaranteed success just because it's using 'social media'.
For a taste of the online social media we've been putting together for our clients, look no further than the Bear Tracks photo contest (below) and the
Speed of Life YouTube contest that launched at this week's NAB show in Las Vegas. If you want to combine this month's themes, you can even
plant a tree on Facebook!
| And this brings us nicely to last month's social media experiment, our Facebook Album Cover contest. From the floppy disk's worth of images we received, we are delighted to announce the winning entry, randomly created by Mr. Lou Cross. Congratulations Lou, the rare vintage 3W Studios mug is yours! |

Where is that Bear?
| Indigo Bluffs has launched an online photo contest with grand prizes of $500 in cash or a $5000 rally at the luxury RV resort in Michigan. Even better, entrants automatically win a free 4 day 3 night stay just for submitting their photos. The contest was the brainchild of Kidd Public Relations, supported by 3W Studios. |

The Indigo Bluffs website accepts entries and displays a gallery of approved photos from each category. An administrative tool lets the client review entries before they show up on the site. The contest is open to anyone with an RV and a picture of the resort mascot. Once the gallery is posted, users will be able to vote on images they see, and entrants can drum up support by emailing friends and family to vote for their photo.
