Feature: 2004, The year of site content
2004 is the chinese year of the monkey. Put enough monkeys together in a room with a computer, and the laws of probability state that eventually they will produce some good content for your website. But can you wait that long?
Gerry McGovern, of MarketingProfs.com, has issued predictions for this year that, should they come true, will mean the monkey-written content of the old web could be on the way out. Among his premonitions is the thought that websites will no longer be the domain of the IT Department, and will be transfered to the Communications Department. The most intriguing notion is that a new style of writing will appear that exploits keywords. Why? Well, content is more and more important, especially when you consider the growing need for search engine placement and the idea of content relevancy.
3W Studios encourages you to consider your web content as the year begins. Is it targeted well-written resource material that your users want? Or is it last year's brochure converted to HTML? If you would like a review of your site or help getting it into shape in the new year, drop us a line. We offer services far beyond web design - including content creation, to enable your website to reach its fullest potential.

Launch News: Cook Development launches family of sites
Cook Development, located in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, has launched a family of websites. St Croix, St Kitts and St Maarten are all luxury condominium developments on Florida's Atlantic coast. Each property has a website targeted towards condominium buyers. In addition, Cook Development received a new brand identity from the Kidd Tucker Group, which has been applied to a new corporate site. See Cook Development's portfolio at www.cookdevelopment-fl.com, with links to all three condominium properties.
Tech News: Apache gains market share
Netcraft reports that Apache increasing its lead over Microsoft IIS when it comes to webserver software. 67% of sites surveyed reporting using Apache, compared to only 20% for IIS. The gain has been boosted by some recent mass-defections, such as Register.com (responsible for over 1 million domains).
3W Studios continues to offer both options in our server environments, allowing us flexibility when it comes to providing you hosting solutions. Read more about the survey from Netcraft.
Other News: Arise Sir Tim
No, it wasn't Al Gore who invented the internet, it was Tim Berners-Lee. Or rather, Sir Tim. In this year's New Years Honours list, Berners-Lee was made Knight Commander in the Order of the British Empire. Sir Berners-Lee developed the predecessor to today's URL (web address) and now serves as director of the World Wide Web Consortium.
