Florida Healthy Kids
Families First

Florida Healthy Kids provides health insurance to low income families as part of the Florida KidCare program. 2005 saw 3W Studios implement a thorough makeover of their site, redefining the site's focus from administrators and policy makers to the families themselves.

Key Facts

  • User Account Access
  • Online Application
  • HIPAA Compliant
  • Dedicated secure hosting

The most important feature of this switch of attitude was access to account information, something that meant the site would need to be HIPAA compliant. We provided the critical security measures to ensure data is correctly stored and transfered, including the secure hosting environment.

Families can now log on and check their account status and payment information, renew their accounts and make updates to account information. During specific cycle periods the site accepts requests for changes of provider. New applicants can check their application status and receive updates on additional steps they need to take.

The final phase launched in February of 2006, in which prospective enrollees can apply directly online. The step-by-step form takes families through the process of applying with as much clarity and assistance as possible. Applying online will not only cut down on the error rate, but shave up to a week of the time it takes to process an application.

The online application surpassed paper applications within 10 months, and across all demographics. After 18 months the site had taken 200,000 applications for the program.

In 2008, 3W Studios implemented a series of new web services to allow Healthy Kids to expand the tools available for families. Working with the new third-party administrator, we not only converting the existing functions but also added a pre-filled renewal process, saving families time and effort each year.

3W Studios has helped the organization to fully exploit their web presence at every opportunity. Healthy Kids won the 2005 Jack Hardy Award from the Board of the Florida Society for Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing. The award acknowledged their 2005 open enrollment campaign; specifically, a public relations kit that was also available online, with additional web banners for regional websites.
