The Second Decade Starts Here
January wasn't just the start of a new year this time around, it marks the start of our second decade in business. If Bill Gates is correct, and the digital decade is "happening" now, then we picked a good time to start. So what do we have planned for the next ten years? Well, there are still three continents that we haven't made a footprint on, although Antarctica could prove troublesome... Maybe by the time our third decade rolls around we could be looking for clients on the moon? Ok, so maybe some more down-to-earth goals might be necessary. How about staying one step ahead of industry heavyweights like Dell? Almost a year to the day after we launched our tree planting initiative, I see Michael Dell is taking a leaf from our book, so to speak. Just another example of how we're pushing the envelope.

Blot on the Vista
You may have given up on Microsoft Vista several years ago, but it has now arrived. The much awaited Internet Explorer 7 is already testing web designers everywhere who have been spending years crafting code that works in all the previous versions of this, well, ordinary browser. For all the steps forward IE 7 may have taken, it seems that a new Vista flaw is rising to plague our jobs. The new version of Outlook has apparently not kept up with IE, and uses the same HTML processing engine as...wait for it... Word. This is akin to BMW launching their new 5 series and putting a '97 Ford Escort engine in it.

While we have done some IE 7 testing, we have yet to set up a Vista station and test our HTML emails in the new version of Outlook. So here is your chance to win a prize, or at least a mention in next month's newsletter. If you are an early adopter, please drop us a line if you see strange and unexpected display issues in your new Outlook. Use the "see this email online" link to compare how it should look to how your email client renders it.

2006 Hosting Upgrades
Throughout 2006 we were steadily working to improve our hosting infrastructure. A series of upgrades and migrations have taken place, to the benefit of all our hosting customers. These include:
- 100x bandwidth increase by moving to Fiber Optic link;
- Core border security devices upgraded to the latest hardware available;
- Doubled Server Capacities, fewer services on more servers for greater redundancy;
- Core backup system capacity increased 2-fold;
- Backup power capacity increased more than 4-fold.
We have just topped it off by making a bullet-proof anti-spam service available on request to our email clients. If your current host is letting you down, you know who to call.
